The COVID-19 pandemic has aggravated deep inequalities in access to knowledge. With the sudden physical closure of schools, universities, libraries, archives, museums, and other institutions of public access and learning, digital access has become paramount. Unfortunately, the copyright laws of the vast majority of countries are not up to the task. This panel discussion will present the work of academics and advocates who are mapping variances between copyright limitations and exceptions, including on the degree to which educational and research materials may be accessed digitally.
