We will present and discuss our findings from a study of the landscape of voice interfaces in India. The study, supported by Mozilla Corporation, also discusses possible policy and design interventions through the lenses of privacy of users, inclusion of non-English languages, and accessibility of interfaces. Through this session we would like to examine how open access voice data can help in making voice interfaces more accessible. The session will also seek to discuss with the participants the tradeoffs towards more accessible voice data, be it in the form of privacy or accuracy.
