We need a new economic model for knowledge production. One that is in alignment with products and data and no longer silos content due to misaligned incentives. To do so, we need open tools that put communities in control of their own publishing models. A growing number of groups are experimenting with creating their own review, curation, production, publication, and impact analysis processes. These models, which we call Community Publishing, can shift power from monolithic gatekeepers to communities of practice, creating a more equitable, effective, and sustainable knowledge-sharing ecosystem
